                       His father Edward seems to have been thrifty and successful in obtaining
property which he distributed among his children in locality of Morris Co.,
NJ near a locality known as "Bottle Hill."  Samuel I was the first of our line
into North Carolina. At least Samuel II and Timothy went to NC.

                   Joined church at Morristown, N.J. 1757,  Secured Land Grant in 1775 in what is
not Lincoln Co, N.C. Sons settled in Surry Co., N.C.  Most of the family were
Baptists by 2nd quarter of 1800's, many followed teachings of Alexander
Campbell into Disciples of Christ, new Christian Church or Campbellites.  He
and sons later obtained grants of land chiefly in Surry Co, NC.  Son Zadok was
sheriff of Surry Co about 1788. One child settled in Tennessee, others went to
Warren Co., Ky, remaining about 20 years then to territory of Illinois.  Two or
three families remained, but the majority pushed on to Missouri
