                       Eugene's wife, Inez, was a school teacher in Atchison and Jefferson Counties. Their daughter was married at the Denison Union Church. Gene's brother, Earl, married Inez sister, Edna. When Inez died Gene and Inez were living on the farm and having a house built in Valley Falls. She died of cancer, at Topeka Hospital. Gene later married, Pauline, at the Knights Columbus Hall at Nortonville. She was formerly married to Mr. Head and is the daughter of Jennie Neal Hawk. They were divorced June 1984.

    Gene was a farmer, but later they worked at the Winchester Hospital, he was a maintenance man, and Pauline worked as a cook. He also worked as the custodian at the Valley Falls school. Several years after his divorce from Pauline, he married Eileen, who is the daughter of Henry J. Moeck and Martha Kruze. She was first married to Mr. Rathert. Gene and Elieen enjoy square dancing and traveling. They reside in Valley Falls, Kansas.
