                       Melvin lived in Lennox, California in 1937. He said that he worked at Sandia Basis in research and development. He was later chief electrical inspector on the Mark 7 bomb for Pantex, near Amarillo, Texas and was sent as the observer on the tests in Nevada. He was transferred to Las Alamos working on a special project. He left that job for Eberline Instruments as production superintendent on nuclear test equipment. After he quit Eberline, he went to work for RCA as field engineer. He worked with the Phoenix Air Defense Center, as a standardization engineer on heavy radar for the Air Force. He was at Luke Air Force Base. Later he worked for JPL in Pasadena, California with the Lunar Lander Program. He was transferred to Alamagordo, New Mexico as assistant manager on the radio radar 2C program. His wife, Irene, suffered with M.S. and had special care from 1959 until her death.

    Lillian is the daughter of John Houston Garner Fand Milly Ann McCormick. She was married first to Mr. Henderson. They had three daughters. The daughters were all married before her second marriage. She had surgery in the summer of 1992 and a pacemaker in 1993. He lived at Edgewood and Albuquerque, New Mexico after his retirement. In April 1992 he flew to Tulsa, Oklahoma. His daughter, Betty Lou picked him up and they went to visit, his sister, Esther for a few days. He enjoys working in his shop. He has had catarac surgery on both eyes and radiation treatment for atomic burns received when he was an observer for the tests in Nevada.
