In Texas in 1835, and among the body of armed volunteers who took control of Goliad in the fall of 1835. Took part in the siege and Battle of San Antonio de Bexar in December 1835. A close and trusted friend of Col. James Fannin. Became Brig. General in the Texas Mlitia and fought with Zachary Taylor in the war with Mexico, 1846-48.
