Henry Stites and Hannah Garlick, and did each take the other to be man and wife, according to the law of this providence, being lawfully published according to order, as witness their hands the day and year above said: Henry Stites Hannah Garlick Samuel Crowell, Justice Witnesses: John Carman, Jonathan Pine, John Shaw, Jonathan Osborne, Caleb Carman Shamgar Hand, Ruth Dayton, William Harwood, Jacob Spicer Ezekiel Eldredge, Timothy Brandith. (Stevens, p. 48) Family: Dr. Beasley (1857 Ref) wrote: "Henry Stites, ancestor of all in the county of that name, came to the country about or in the year 1691. He located 200 acres of land, including the place now belonging to the heirs of Eli Townsend. He made his mark, yet afterwards acquired the art of writing and was justice of the court for a long series of years, being noted such in 1746. He left a son, Richard at Cape Island, and he a son, John from whom the Lower Township Stites have decended. His son Isiah who died in 1767, and from whom the Stites of the Upper and Part of the Middle Township have decended, lived on the places now occupied by his grandsons, John and Townsend Stites. at Beesley's point. The Middle Township Stites, below the court house are descendants of Benjamin Stites, who was possably a brother of Henry and was in the county in 1705." Family Conflict: Film # 1005024 says Benjamin's brother Jonathan md a Marsa Crawford but Jonathan married Prudence Shepard. I don't know who the Jonathan that married Marsa Crawford is. .
