"From the many records found in the Spartanburg & Pendleton Co., SC, Warren, Logan, and Simpson Co., KY I conclude that the Jacob., Sr. found in Spartanburg Co., and Pendleton Co., SC are the same person, wife Agnes YOUNG, who is named as the sister of William YOUNG in his 1791 will, Spartanburg., SC. From the locations found in the deeds, names of witnesses, etc. in both counties that the children of Jacob Earnest SR and His wife Agnes YOUNG were: Jacob, Jr., Aaron, Thomas, Leadiwick, Nathaniel, Jenny, Mary (wife of Thomas Caudill), and unnamed daughter wife of Wm MEEDS. Jacob Sr. died 1803 in Pendleton Co.,SC leaving an unfinished will which does not name all of his children; he was ill at the time and called for his friend to whom he told the will; either he did not finish the will, the friend didn't remember everything that was said, or most probably he had already given the older children, Aaron who was already in KY, Jacob Jr., who had already moved to Edgefield Co., SC and Thomas, their shares. The 1800 census shows one more male than is accounted for, --could be another relative living in the household. Leadiwick and Nathaniel are the two youngest sons. It appears that Jenny may not have married. Aaron, Thomas, Leadiwick, Nathaniel, Thomas CAUDILL and Wm MEEDS all remove to Warren Co., KY, with Thomas being in the part that became Edmonson Co., in 1825; Leadiwick and Nathaniel move on to Sullivan Co.,IN. I further conclude from the records found that William EARMEST SR. also found in Spartanburg Co., SC with deeds that place him in the same neighborhood as Jacob EARNEST and deeds found in 1799 & 1804 where he sells his property, then he appears on the 1805 Logan Co., KY tax list; signs the marriage bonds of Aaron's children after Aaron has died in 1814: has land transactions with Leadiwick EARNEST; that he is a brother to Jacob EARNEST SR. They are possible sons of Henry EARNEST, who died in Spartanburg Co., SC with a daughter Rachel wo married William LINDSAY.
WARREN CO KY TAX LIST FOR 1806 SHOWS AARON EARNEST WITH A MALE CHILD AGE 16-21 IN THE HOUSEHOLD FOR THE FIRST TIME. IF THIS IS WILLIAM (WILLIAM IS LISTED AS THE OLDEST CHILD IN THE WILL) THEN HE MUST HAVE BEEN 16 IN 1806 AS NO MALE WAS LISTED AS 16-21 ON PREVIOUS WARREN CO KY TAX LISTS.

From: "David & Lynn White"Date: Tue, 1 Feb 2000 13:18:18 -0800 To: Subject: Re: Long Time No See Scott, Yes, it was a problem sorting out the Jacob's in Warren and Simpson Co., KY Basically, what it came down to on the marriage of our Jacob and Lucinda Aden and the Jacob and Lois Thompson whose marriage bann was announced in early 1815 was that the only way he could be one and the same person, was to see if Lois Thompson did finally marry that Jacob Earnest. Come to find out, she did not So our Jacob was jilted by Lois and found Lucinda Aden to marry later in 1815, Sept. I think. Actually, my aunt had hired a genealogist in KY and had her work on the Earnest line. I sent the clue about Lois, which she was able to confirm. (Sue Cooper is her name) Sue also did work for a Wm.Henry Earnest in Titusville, FL. Come to find out, his ?g-grandfather was probably a brother to our Jacob Earnest Sr. I have gobs of info that my aunt Enid shared with me. I've written him, and her now that my aunt is no longer able to do much genealogy. I'd be glad to have you come to LV and "get up to speed" on the family history. I've found so many long-lost, but now found cousins on the internet through rootsweb. It's incredible All this has happened in the last 2 years since I got on-line Actually, I have you to thank for learning how to be meticulous about record-keeping, what with those Largents and their land records. And yes, I may need help one day with my German /Czeck ancestry. My mother's lines are only 3 generations back, due mostly to the language barrier. I did find the German parish records in Salt Lake City and was able to read them because I had done some name extraction and they were in Latin. But I would like to get my dad's lines back to their immigration to this country before I start searching European records. I have often thought if I had other family members that were searching for the same lines as I, how nice it would be to coordinate the search, so maybe we can do that I have just straightened a SMITH mess. My grandmother (James Clark's wife) had SMITH's for grandparents. I've found it very helpful to find someone in the county where you're searching to do footwork for me. It really paid off with the SMITH's. (No relationship to Joseph-- that I can find at this point). Gotta go Write back.
