Subject: Re: Death of Ulrich Showalter

Scott

Unfortunately, the last time when I visited the Court House in Fayette
County, they were going through some type of reorganization and a number of
the old record books were laying haphazardly in a room on the second floor,
and I was allowed to go through them. The main purpose at the time was to
seek out the relationship of a Levi Showalter to Ulrich. I took down in
detail the information of Deed Book 2, p. 252-254 whuch was recorded July
30, 1844. The deed gives the history of the land grant "Cool Spring" on
Yorks Run in Georges Township, and the adjacent land "Beautiful Meadow" from
its first grantee Jonathan Resse through his daughter Lydia, intermarried to
Samuel Rainey, who sold it to Ulrich Showalter, Deed Book H 48 & 48, on
January 13, 1807. Unfortunately, I did not take down as detailed
information on the two deeds that Ulrich conveyed this land to his son John.
The first was dated 31 Aug. 1810, 61 acres and the second was dated 13 Dece.
1816, 66 acres. I was able to see both deeds, but the books were in
miserable condition, so I did not get a photographic copy. The latter deed
was recorded in January 1817. If you write to the Court House at Uniontown,
Fayette Co., PA., maybe they are better organized, and they may be able to
photograph the deed in question.

Subject: Relatives of Scott Earnest

Hi Scott:
I found your WorldConnect Project site "Relatives of Scott Earnest" while searching for information on the surname Trissel. I have been trying to identify the parents of David Trissel (1761-1836) for some time now, and always run into various conflicts.
Some researchers have David's parents as Peter Trissel, Tressler, Tresler etc., and Martha Showalter. I have seen the same marriages that you have with Martha except for Peter Tressler. Some have also have David married to Martha, but that is not likely because she is at least 15 years older than he. However, that possibility cannot be ruled out. I do find one problem that you might be able to resolve. You have Martha m. Joseph S. Tressler abt. 1748 which is her birth year according to many Showalter researchers.
Do you have any documents that you can cite that specifically links Martha to her three husbands, Peter Tressler, Joseph Tristle, and Joseph Tressler?
