Johathan Sprague was born May 28, 1648 at Hingham, Massachusetts. He died at Providence, Rhode Island, Sep, 1741. Married Mehitable Holbrook. Lived at Hingham, Massachusetts, and Providence and Smithfield, Rhode Island. Inherited from his fathe sixty acres of land in Rhode Island, 1675. He removed to Rhode Island about 1675. He with others were appointed a committe by the Rhode Island Assembly to survey the eastern boundary line of the colony. He was a deputy in the Rhode Island Assembly, 1695,1696-1698-1700-1702-1703-1704-1705-1706-1707-1709-1710-1711-1712 and 1714. In 1703, he and 20 other men were appointed a committee to draw up rules and regulations to govern the Court of Common Pleas. Clerk of the Rhode Island Assembly, 1707. He was a councilman of Providence for eight years. He was a Baptist and a powerful lay preacher. Children---
Jonathan Jr. Died 1746. His first wife was Bethiah Mann. His second wife was Hannah Hawkins. He was a member of the Rhode Island Assembly.
William died 1763.
Patience married William Jenckes.
Joanna married John Tefft. She died 1757.
Mary married Daniel Brown.
A daughter married Ebenzer Cook.
