                      In a letter from Tom Croston dated Sept., 1986, Tom Croston wrote "Will do
the best I can to explain how this KID BENJAMIN Come into being.
   Thru most of the 1930's Mother stayed with her mother and brother, DAD, RUTH,
and BEN was out on that hill. No radio. one daily paper. Aweekly magazine,
Named CAPPER'S WEEKLY,(Ruth's boy Jim was born in 1934) That year Ben was 20
years old. About that time Ben got a box full of old fashion western cowboy
books?. Chores morning and evening and not much in between during the day, the
evenings was long. (NO T.V.) From what he told me some years later he tried to
write western cowboy story's.
KID BEN was his story hero.
