Edward COTTLE
Martha's Vineyard,vol 3,pg 106, vol 2 pg 42 by Banks; Colonial Family vol 5 Edward Cottle first settled in Salisbury Mass. after coming from England. Twice his home was burned by Indians, so he moved to Nantucket with his wife and 6 or 7 children. Later to Tisbury. Mass. in 1668/9. Nothing is recorded in these vol. except her name as Judith and that they had 14 children. This record states - The earlist form of the name Cottle goes back to 1250 spelled Cotele, Cothile. The family was found early at Atworth, Wilts, now called Cottle near Melksham.
Edward died young. Esther Dagget could be his wife or the wife of his younger brother Edward.
