Benjamin Riegel was in the service of the UNited States as a teamster or waggoner. When near his home one mile south of Hellertown, he fell from his wagon which passed over h im. He lived but a few hours afterwards. He is buried in the public (Mennonite) burying ground on the west side of Saucon Creek, and near the homestead.
He was at Valley Forge with George Washinton's army.
