Sources. Personal Knowledge of Inez Elizabeth Rail - Wife Obituary reporting death in the August 30, 1993 edition of the DAILY TIMES-CALL newspaper of Longmont, Colorado. Personal knowledge of burial by Ellis Charles Rail who attended both the funeral at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont Colorado and the greaveside services at Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont, Colorado, which were held on September 1, 1993. The obituary, which also included Ronald's photograph, is quoted herein: "Ronald Cornell of 6708 Walker Drive in Longmont died on Friday, Aug. 27, 1993, at his home. He was 75. Born on July 31, 1918, near Larned, Kan., he was the son of Emery Cornell and Elsie Brokaw Cornell. Prior to induction in the U.S. Army, he delivered milk in rural Lincoln, Neb. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army with the 537th Engineer (LP) Company in Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland and Central Europe. For the past ten years, Mr. Cornell had been an active and driving force in locating members of the Company and in organizing and coordinating their bi-annual Company reunion. At the 1990 reunion, he was presented a plaque acknowledging him as "Mr. 537th" for his outstanding service. After his military service, Mr. Cornell worked at the College of Agriculture at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He was later employed at Sedles Buick Company, Dawly Motors Company and White Motors Company in Lincoln. After moving to Boulder in 1963 from Lincoln, he worked for Neo-data for four years. He then went to work at the mail handling facility of the U.S. Postal Service in Boulder, retiring in 1983. He moved to Longmont in 1971. He married Elizabeth Rail on Jan. 22, 1972, in Lakewood (California). He was a life member of the N.R.A., V.F.W. Post No. 2601 in Longmont, and American Legion Post No. 10 in Boulder. Mr. Cornell is survived by his wife of Longmont; his son, Rex Cornell and his wife Caral of Lincoln, Neb; his daughter, Nancy Snyder and her husband Larry of Monmouth, Ore.; his sister, Evangelyn Jenkins of Watsonville, Calif.; five grandchildren, Brenda Snyder O'Sullivan and her husband John, Vonda SnyderPeters and her husband Jack, Ann Cornell, Eric Cornell and Mathew Cornell; and one great-grandson, Zackery Peters. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1993, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St. in Longmont. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1993, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Jessen of Longs Peak United Methodist Church officiating.
