Margaret was the second wife of Jesse N. She was the sixth of 10 children of Samuel W. and Margaret C. West. She joined the church at age 8 and went to Utah with her parents. She was the younger sister to Emma, 1st wife of Jesse N. She died, supposedly of acute appendicitis while Jesse N. was presiding over the Scandinavian Mission. Word reached him in Copenhagen some six weeks later through a letter from his brother Silas. He did not arrive home until Oct. of that year. Her two children, Adelaide Margaret and Joseph West were tenderly cared for by their Aunt Emma who reared them as her own. Emma received help in ther rearing of all of the children from their grandmother, Mary Aikens Smith. During the brief 8 year period of Margaret's married life, her husband was away from home most of the time in church, civic or military service. (Source: Journal of J.N.S.) Margaret was endowed 2 Oct 1857 and sealed at the altar the same day in the Salt Lake Endowment House by Brigham Young.
He married Margaret Cooper 20 Jan 1829 at Montgomery, Tennessee . Margaret Cooper was born at Montgomery, Tennessee 9 Dec 1804 .
