NOTES FOR JACOB PLETCHER JR. 17 .T an 1993 Page 1 ================================================================================ Jacob Pletcher joined the Civil War on Aug. 22, 1862, in Co. D in 100th Reg. Indiana Volunteers. Being of the Mennonite faith, his faMily were against his going. He was in the process of building a barn, and had to leave half way thru, according to faMily stories. This left Cyrene to finish the job. Jacob served for 15 Months. He becaMe ill in Sept. 1863 with typhoid fever at Black River, 18 Miles froM Vicksburg, and was sent to MeMphis, Tenn. where he died on Nov. 11,1863.
