Born in Hagerstown, he was a son of the late Guy and Nannie F. Kendle Slayman. He was employed at H.R. Ebersole and Son Plumbing Co. and formerly employed at Frideringer and Ritchie Co. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ; Moose Lodge No. 212; Potomac Post No. 202, American Legion of Williamsport; William Max McGlaughin Post No. 695 American Legion of Waynesboro, Pa.; Red Men Lodge No. 84 of Williamsport; Fraternal Order of Police No. 88. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. Beside his mother, he is survived by his wife, Doris M. Saunders Slayman; a daughter, Cheryl D. Slayman of Hagerstown; sisters, Etta Bartles, Elizabeth Clowdis and Nancy Moats, all of Hagerstown; brothers, Edward Slayman of Hudson, Fla., George Slayman of Smithsburg, John Slayman of Williamsport and Elvin Slayman of Hagerstown. Services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. J. Clark Hayes will officiate; burial in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thrusday evening from 7 to 9.
