She grew to womanhood in the Norcatur community, graduating from DecaturCommunity High School in 1920. She~ was united in marriage to Griff McVayat Proyo, Utah, Oct.25, 1926. They lived at American Fork, Utah from 1926to 1928 when moved to a farm northwest of Norcatur. Upon retirement theymoved Into Norcatur where they lived until her death.
Mrs. McVay was active in community and church work. She was a member ofthe United Methodist Church, Norcatur, and served as Sunday schoolteacher for eight years. She was a member of the R.N.A. and the ThreePrairie Unit Club. For several years she worked with the Red Cross as aGray Lady in Norton.

Survivors include her widower, Griffa, of the home; one daughter, Mrs.Malcolm Henderson, Tupelo, Miss.; one daughterin in law Mrs. Helen Mcvay,Norcatur; three grandsons, Don and Mark Henderson, Tupelo, Miss., andKenneth McVay, Norcatur; one granddaughter, Kathy McVay, Manhattan; twobrothers, John Miller, Yuma, Cob., and Weldon Miller, Norcatur, Kan.;three sisters, Mrs. Zena Clayton, Rapid City, S.D., Mrs. Maude Spicer,Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Luella Exline Beaver, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her \ parents; a son, Glenn; three brothersand one sister.

Memorial services were held from the United Methodist Church, Norcatur,March 9, 1976 with Mike Mcvay officiating. Burial was in NorcaturCemetery.
