thru Mabel I. Hay. Birth record in Fulton Co. Courthouse shows middle
initial as "L", birth place taken from these records.
He was a fireman in Joplin commissioned by the State of Missouri 20th day of
April, 1914.
Burial place & middle name obtained from Peggy Hay McReynolds.
George Hay gave the following story to his granddaughter Peggy Hay McReynolds.
"Grandpa Wineland was found by the Winelands on the prairie after both his
parents had been killed by either indians or robbers. The Wineland family gave
the infant their name as there were no records found about who the family was.
The Winelands raised the infant as their own."
