Johann Franciskus (Frantz) HOH

Historical and Genealogical Society library at Somerset, Pennsylvania. This
data states he was issued a Land Warrant for 400 acres in Brothers Valley
Twp. September 7, 1784. Survey record April 6, 1785 locates this tract
north fork of Buffalo Creek, including improvement. (1876 Atlas shows it
as farms of Henry H. Hay and Francis Knipper)
Francis Hay, Jacob Fisher and Jacob Keffer, proprietors, laid out an addition
to the town of Berlin between 1784 and 1787 known as the western portion.
Francis Hay and Simon Hay were on the 1790 census record in Bedford County
and on the 1796 tax list of Somerset County in Brothers Valley Twp.
Francis Hay arrived on the ship Salley from Rotterdam at Philadelphia on
October 5, 1767 with a Simon Hay (Pioneer Simon Hay) and a Valentine Hay.
It has been generally assumed that Valentine was his brother, however, if
this is the case Valentine would have had to return to Bavaria almost
immediately because he had another child born in Scharrau, 28 November 1769.
A letter from Dr. Richard Hoh dated 8/8/88 stated that the Valentine that
came in 1767 was the son of Johann Adam (RIN-45) & Anna Eva Reb Hoh.
Francis returned to Gerhardsbrunn in 1775 on business of the family and was
unable to return because of the English blockade of our ports during the
Revolutionary War until the war ended in 1783.
