Alexander LENHART
Following is an article on Irene's death which appeared in the"MEYERSDALE REPUBLICAN" on February 10, 1949: Miss Lenhart Dies After Brief Illness "Miss Irene Lenhart was presiding as president at a meeting of theWomen's Missionary Society in the Main Street Brethren Church Monday evening, when shebecame suddenly ill and asked another officer of the group to take over. When it becameevident that she was seriously ill the meeting was adjourned and a physician was called.She was taken to the Hazel McGlivery Hospital where she passed away between 2 and 2:30o'clock Tuesday morning. Death was due to cerebral apoplexy. Her sudden illness and death greatly shocked her friends, as therewas no previous indication that she was in a serious condition of health. Miss Lenhart was 66 years of age. She was born October 1, 1882, andwas the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Lenhart. She lived with her sisters, Naomi and Sidney Lenhart in Glade City,Meyersdale R.D. 2. She was a life long member of the Brethren Church. For many years she wasbookkeeper in the Miller and Collins Department Store. Besides the two sisters with whom she lived, she is survived by twoother sisters, Mrs. Margaret Ingram and Mrs. Edith Lee, both of Monongahela City, and by onebrother, Charles Lenhart of Johnstown. Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 in theMain Street Brethren Church, with the Rev. W.N. Benshoff officiating. Burial was made inUnion Cemetery under the direction by W.C. Price and Son, morticians."
Naomi's obituary was in the newspaper the "MEYERSDALE REPUBLICAN", 1981: NAOMI LENHART "Naomi Lenhart, 93, of Meyersdale, died Aug. 7, 1981 in the Church of theBrethren Home in Windber. She was born Feb. 26, 1888 in Summit Township, and was adaughter of the late Alexander and Mary (Bender) Lenhart. Surviving are a number ofnieces and nephews. Friends were received at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, whereservices were con- ducted with the Rev. Robert Payne officiating. Burial was in the UnionCemetery."
Sydney's obituary was in the "MEYERSDALE REPUBLICAN" newspaper datedJanuary 6, 1977: SYDNEY M. LENHART "Miss Sydney M. Lenhart, 85, died Dec. 27 at the Church of the BrethrenHome in Scalp Level. She was born January 1891 in Summit Township, the daughter of thelate Alex and Mary (Bender) Lenhart. She is survived by her sister, Miss NaomiLenhart, also at Scalp Level and a number of nieces and nephews. Miss Lenhart was a teacher inthe Meyersdale Area Schools for 46 years before her retirement in 1954. At that timeshe was teaching in the Glade City Elementary School. Friends were received at the PriceFuneral Home, where services were conducted December 29 with the Rev. Joseph Hannaofficiating internment in the Union Cemetery."
