David PLETCHER

                   Message Board Post:Hi,I am a Great, Great, Great Grand Son of Samuel and Elizabeth Pletcher. I have done sone land reseaarch and I can prove out the homestead of Samuel Pletcher to be under a lake on Seven Springs Ski Resort Property. Samuel Pletcher developed (worked) a lime stone quarry on this 315 acres of land, and also a Simon Pletcher Grist Mill shows up on this land. I have located the heavy stone foundaation which would support a water wheel and, with the evidence of the water race ways there is little doubt of my find, also an old Middlecreek Township map supports this location.Simon Pletcher is the twelfth son of Samuel and Elizabeth located in Middlecreek Township, Somerset Conty. My Great Great Grand Dad, David Pletcher (Samuel and Elizabeth's first son) purchased 195 acres in Lower Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County, PA, where this barn stone foundation still stands. David Pletcher and a lot of his family are buried in the Sculton Cemetery.I am extremely interested in the life and times of Samuel and Elizabeth Pletcher of Somerset County, PA, ( a married couple raising 15 children between 1827 and 1856 in the mountains of Pennsylvania)Dean Pletcher
