Lewis attended scholl at Somerfield, PA and he and his wife, Rosalie,were graduates of Susquehanna University at Selinsgrove, PA. in 1914. Lewis was a Prisoner of War in Germany, World War I. Lewis served twoyears in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army of which eighteen months wereoverseas duty. Notices from the War Department, the Adjuctant General'soffice, Washington DC, Sept 11, 1918, and November 11, 1918 and a letterfrom the American Red Cross letter sent Sept 18, 1918 were received byLewis's family while he was a prisoner of war. After the war, Lewis served as a teach for a year at Millheim Pa.;another year at Milroy Pa.,; two years at Beech Creek and six years atState College High School, PA., the last of which he served as principalof the high school. He was appointed Assistant County superintendent ofPublic Schools of Centre Co., PA.
