                   Note James immigrated to America around 1726 and settled in Salisbury Township, Lancaster Co., PA.  His journey to the new world was marred by stormy weather and by arriving off course at the mouth of the James River.  The ship did a quick turn-about and finally arrived at the mouth of the Elk River in Maryland.  From here he soon moved on to Salisbury Township, where he obtianed land and spent the remainder of his life.
