       Ref 1:  Elizabeth Wombles Hughes died 1 March 1949 and was burie d 3 March
1949 at Urbana, Missouri.

       Ref 1:  Samson Anderson Wombles was only about a year old when h is father
died.  Samson looked after his mother until the Civil War broke out . At the
age of  18 He joined the Union Army.  He was a Republican and much op posed to
slavery.  He received three honorable discharges from the army.  He d ied just
one week after his 90th. birthday.
