Notes:
David was known to the family as Uncle Dave or by Unk. He staye d with his first cousin, William Simeon Henry and Williams wife, Sylvia Robert B arley, as a boarder for about 40 years. When they moved to Montana from Missou ri, he moved with them. He worked at the Anaconda Copper Mining Company fro m 1918 until his death in 1945. He enjoyed his work and did not want to ret ire. He was the inspector foreman of the copper refinery. With about a fourt h grade education he worked up to a position of leadership. He had to approv e each batch of copper bars or plates before they could be shipped from th e plant. He never used tobacco or alcohol. His insurance and war bonds were all made out to his grandnephew , J. Robert Gillis. This money was used to provide one year of support fo r a master of science degree, to purchase a new 1950 Chevrolet, and as down paym ent on our first home which was in South Salt Lake. Inasmuch as I was responsib le for the funeral and burial costs, I gave him an LDS funeral as he attended n o church.
