                          Brice was probably the son of Henry Hickerson Barksdale.  Henr y was a
private and later a sergeant in the Revolutionary War.  He fought i n the
expedition against the Cherokees in 1776 and early 1777.  He died int estate.
J. Robert Gillis is a descendent of Henry Hickerson Barksdale.
