       Jonathan's military service is stated in his application for a p ension as
follows:  He voluntered and entered the service in the army of Texa s about Nov.
lst A. D. 1835 as a private in Capt. Crane's company and joined the a rmy under
the command of Stephen F. Austin on the Sanan Tonia River, . . . resu lted in
taking the town and Alamo.  I continued with the army until after th e Battle of
San Jacinto of the 21st of April 1836, that I did not participate i n said
battle being taken sick with the flue or something like it on the 20t h. . . I
obtained a discharge and 320 acres bounty land I also obtained a dona tion of
640 acres called the San Jacinto claim. . . I was sixty three years o ld the
