James Simkins Jones served as a Bishop in Tabiona, Utah. He put up the first $100.00 to purchase forty acres of ground that belonged to a dead Indian, which was then made into a townsite and given the name, chosen by Apostle Whitney, of Tabiona. He latter moved to St. George, Utah when his Father, John Lee Jones asked him to move to St. George, Utah to build a house where all the family (Jones) could come to stay, while attending the Temple. This he did. He spent much of the rest of his life doing Temple and research work. He prepared about 5,070 Chapman; 5,000 Jones; 1,500 Kirkbride; 2,000 Lee; 500 Peel; and 1,500 Simkins Temple Sheets for temple work, besides doing Baptisms, Sealings, Endowments and acting as witness, thousands of times in the St. George Temple. This gives one just a brief idea of the immensity of his unselfish accomlisments.
