                   RESEARCH NOTES:
    Most probable marriage is to Nancy Woller, Dec 19, 1783 in Tong, Yorkshire, England.  The marriage of John Rhodes is not recorded in the Guiseley parish, so they likely both came from a surrounding parish.  The parishes of Tong and Guiseley are ten miles apart - Guiseley on the north of Bradford, Tong to the south.  The Tong marriage records and Banns do not show what parishes the couple came from.  A single birth of a Rhodes child to a father John is found in the Tong parish shortly after the marriage of John Rhodes and Nancy Wooler.  The christening of Sally Rhodes occurs on 11 apr 1784.  We don't know if this child is that of John and Nancy, but if it is, it would suggest that these are two different couples, and the John Rhodes of Tong is not the same as the John Rhodes of Hawksworth.

    The connection of the birth record of Sarah Rhodes and the marriage record are strong, but still circumstantial, though they represent the best efforts and research with the available records.  Sarah Rhodes is from Guiseley, and the only possible date for her birth is 14 Feb 1796 in Hawksworth, Guiseley, Yorkshire, England.  Another Sarah Rhodes was christened in this parish, and was indeed a member of this family who died shortly after birth. There are some other birth records for Sarah Rhodes in other parishes nearby, but no way to prove which one is her.  .  Two Johns were having children in Guiseley at the same time, but one was from the town of Yeadon, and the other, probable ancestral family, was from Hawksworth.  Her family has been distinguished using the residence location listed as Hawksworth.  Christening records for this time period in this parish do not list the mother's name.
