Pages 38-39: Aaron Clore (son of Michael Clore) was born in Madison Co., Va.,July 28, 1770, died in Laurens Co., S.C., 1840. Sponsors at his baptismwere John Clore, Peter Clore, Elizabeth Becker, and Margaret Clore. Hemarried Susannah Swindle, December 24, 1790, Culpeper Co., Va. (presentMadison Co.), the ceremony being performed by the Baptist minister, theRev. William Mason, after whom Aaron named his son. Susannah Swindle wasborn 1766, died 1858. Soon after his marriage Aaron Clore removed toLaurens Co., S.C. In Sullivan Tsp, Laurens Co., S.C., in 1797 he bought158 acres on Walnut Creek, from William Moore. Likewise in 1822 heobtained 211 acres from Edmund Ware; in 1826, 190 acres from RobertFreeman; in 1827, 165 acres. In 1835 Aaron Clore made deed of gift, 190acres, to son William M. Clore in consequence of his having worked forhim four years after he came of age. Aaron Clore made will January 2,1838, probated December 14, 1840, in Laurens Co., S.C., witnessed byWilliam Arnold, Seborn Jones, and John Knight. He names son William M.Clore and sons-in-law Michael Clardy and James Gaines as exors. Mentionswife Susanna Clore and children Rebecca Drummond, Margaret Gaines,Ethelinda Clardy, Martha Crawford, Elizabeth Clardy, Milly Pitts (wife ofIsaac Pitts), and William Mason Clore. Aaron Clore is buried at thePoplar Springs Cemetery (Baptist) in Laurens Co., S.C. A letter of JohnFishback (he married Ann Clore, sister of Aaron), dated Sept. 30, 1844,Madison Co., Va., to Mrs. Susannah Clore, gives the number of children,grandchildren, etc. of Michael Clore, in which the number of childrenassigned to Aaron is 10. Page 73: William Mason Clore (son of Aaron Clore) was born about 1803, diedOctober 5, 1889. He was undoubtedly named after the Baptist preacher,the Rev. William Mason who married his parents in present Madison Co.,Va., 1790, and he also was a preacher. In 1836 he and wife Lucy Cloresold land in Laurens Co., S.C. He is said to have moved to Georgia in1837. He married 1. Lucy Crawford, sister of the Rev. John Crawford whomarried Martha Clore. 2. Polly Crawford, sister of his first wife. 3.Mrs. Cates (?). The first wife was probably the mother of his children.As he was the only son of his father, so he had but one son.
