Pages 16-17: Agnes Margaret Clore (daugher of Michael Clore) married MichaelOneal prior to May 19, 1735, who is probably identical with the onementioned in the patent of Michael Clore, September 28, 1728. ApparentlyMichael Clore in his will directs that no portion of the heritage ofAgnes Margaret shall come into the hands of Michael O'Neal. We havealready noted deed of John Clore to Michael Oneal, April 13, 1764, for 48acres. This land Margaret Oneal, "Relect of Michael Oneal", and WilliamOneal, son and heir of the said Michael Oneal Decd, sold to James Crane,October 19, 1767. On April 9, 1763 Margaret Oneal, wife of MichaelOneal, relinquished her right of dower in a tract of 100 acres (evidentlythe deed of April 8, 1743 by Michael Oneal in which she failed to sign). This land is described as part of a larger tract for 698 acres granted toMichael Clore, etc. Michael Oneal signs this relinquishment, Margaret(not Agnes Margaret) Oneal makes her mark, and Michael Leatherer and PaulLeatherer witness. On September 15, 1763, Peter Oneal, infant, byMichael Oneal, next friend, brings suit against Michael Leatherer.Outcome not shown. Between this date and October 10 [sic], 1767 MichaelOneal died. This latter date is the last mention found of Agnes Margaret. This information is from the Descendants of Michael Clore Database © 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 by Cathi Clore Frost.

Page 18: George Clore (son of Michael Clore) appears first on March 25, 1746,on which date (with Russell Hill and Francis Michael) he appraised theestate of Frederick Bumgardner. In May, 1747 he was appointed asoverseer of the highway from the German ridge path. On November 15, 1750Michael Glore (sic) and wife Barbara deeded to George Glore "for naturallove" 300 acres lying on the north side of the Robinson River, part of agrant to George Moyer of September 28, 1728. Probably George Clore wasalready heavily afflicted and this deed was made to enable him to providefor his family, for only eight days later, November 23, 1750 he made hiswill, probated September 19, 1751. It was witnessed by Mical Holt, JohnClore, and Michael Rossal. Testator names John Clore and Mical Rossal ashis executors. Mention is made of loving wife Barbara Clore, sonsMichael Clore and Peter Clore, and daughter Alesabat (Elizabeth) Clore, each of which children is to receive 100 acres of land. Michael Russelrenounces his executorship and John Clore is appointed sole executor. The court appointed Peter Weaver as guardian of Michael Clore, heir anddevisee of the testator. Evidently he was the oldest son and still aminor. Since the two children of George Clore who married did not marryuntil about 1768 and later it is safe to assume that they were quiteyoung when their father died and that George was probably under 30.Inasmuch as Peter Weaver was appointed guardian of George Clore's son itis a safe inference that Barbara, wife of George, was the daughter ofPeter Weaver. I also believe she soon after her first husand's deathmarried (Andrew?) Carpenter, Peter Weaver in his will, dated March 27,1763, probated August 18, 1763, mentions among others a daughter BarbaryCarpenter. ******************************************************** Deed Abstracts of Madison County, Virginia 1793 - 1804: Madison CountyDeed Book 1 (1793-1796), Madison County Deed Book 2 (1796-1801) andMadison County Deed Book 3 (1801-1804), Abstracted and Published by Ruthand Sam Sparacio (1986), p 5: Deed Book 1, p 36 We Peter Clore and John Baker do hereby certifiy that we havereceived full satisfaction on John Weaver Senr. for all of George Clore, deceased, Estate and all of Michael Clore Senr., deceased, Estate thatfell to us and was deposited in the hands of .. Page 17: Catharine Clore (daugher of Michael Clore) married Martin Wallick(Wallock, Walk) before May 19, 1735. Martin Vallick, June, 1742, suedMichael Oneal for trespass. Michael Clore makes no bequest to daughterCatharine but leaves her children the nominal sum of one shilling. Hespeaks of her as "formerly the wife of Martin Walk" from which we mightinfer that they were separated or that Martin Walk had died. [ActuallyCatherine had died and Martin Walk had moved to North Carolina andremarried.] But against this we have a deed, dated March 20, 1782,signed by Martin Wallock (sic) and wife Catharine [this was Martin'ssecond wife Catherine Gerhardt] of Roan (Rowan) Co., North Carolina, bywhich they sold to Daniel Mauk of Shenandoah Co., (Va.) 100 acres inCulpeper Co., Va., evidently the land sold by Michael Clore to MartinWallick, May 19, 1735. They had probably removed at a much earlier dateto North Carolina since they do not seem to appear during this period inthe Virginia records. Solomon Wallock was one of the witnesses to thedeed of March 20, 1782, and was probably the son of Martin and Catharine, but the will of Michael Clore indicates that there were other children.Martin Walk and Tobias Wilhite jointly patented land, 400 acres, July 20,1736. Martin Walk sold his part of this patent, 200 acres, to MichaelYeager, September 21, 1748. What relationship, if any, lay back of thisassociation of Walk and Wilhite has not been ascertained. Pages 19-20: Peter Clore (son of Michael Clore) signs his name to anacknowledgment, October 15, 1761, whereby he binds himself to the sum of500 pounds that his father Michael Clore shall live undisturbed on theplantation where he now lives and after his death his mother-in-law(stepmother) shall live there until her death. This bond has a closeconnection with the deed of 1760 wherby Michael Clore sells to son PeterClore 446 acres of land. We have record of no other acquisition of landby Peter Clore. But from his will we see that he had 660 acres which mayhave included the 446 sold him, conditionally, in 1760 by his father. His will is dated November 13, 1762 and was probated March 17, 1763, thesame day his father's will was probated. This Michael Clore and his sonPeter Clore died within a very few days of each other. We should like toknow the circumstances of this unusual happening but that is impossiblenow. Peter Clore's will was probated first, which fact may be anindication that he died first. His will was witnessed by Samuel Klug(the German pastor), Michael Leatherer, and Nicholas Crigler. Thetestator appointed John Clore and John Yager (his brother and wife'sbrother) as executors. They both renounced the executorship and thewidow Barbara Clore was made executor. He bequeathes to wife Barbara hishouse and plantation on which he was then living with 50 acres. To sonAdam Clore he bequeathed 210 acres joining Pal Leatherer; to son SolomonClore he leaves 200 acres joining Adam Clore and running from onemountain to the other; to son Moses Clore he leaves 200 acres joiningSolomon Clore and the plantation the testator was then living on; alsopersonalties are left to daughters Delilah Clore, Elizabeth Clore, andSusanna Clore. On June 16, 1763 in Culpeper Co., Va., Adam Clore chosehis mother Barbara Clore as his guardian. The court appointed her asguardian also of her other children, namely, Solomon, Delilah, Elizabeth,Moses, and Susanna, all of whom are described as under 14 years of age, therefore not competent to choose their guardian. The order here givenis in all probability the order of their ages and agrees with the orderin which they are named in Peter Clore's will excepting that he namessons first and daughters last. Adam was the only child above 14 hence wemay assume he was born about 1747 or 1748 and since Adam is described asnearly 100 years old when he died in 1845 this date can not be farwrong. Barbara, the wife of Peter, was born in 1730, as we shall seebelow, and would be of a marriageable age about 1747. Peter Clore wasprobably not much older than his wife so it seems safe to say that he wasunder 40 when he died. Barbara Yager, wife of Peter Clore, was born September 7, 1730, diedabout 1794-5. She was the daughter of Adam Yager (by his wife SusannaKobler or Cobler), son of Nicholas Yager, one of the 1717 colony. (Forthe writer's account of the Yager Family, see the William and MaryQuarterly, Second Series, Vol. 9, pages 186-200, and 275-290). BarbaraClore married 2. Philip Chelf (Jelf) and had children named Chelf. This information is from the Descendants of Michael Clore Database © 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 by Cathi Clore Frost.

On oneoccasion the latter signes her name as Margaret Oneal, in the deed ofApril 9, 1763. Margaret married Paul Lederer (Leatherer and laterLeathers) before June 20, 1751 on which date Michael Clore and John Cloresold to Peter Leatherall (undoubtedly a perversion for Leatherer) 100acres. Paul Lederer was in the Hebron community as early as July 13,1737 on which date he witnessed deed of Nicholas Yeager to Adam Yeager. It would seem that he was of marriageable age at this time or soonafter. Paul Lether (with Johannes Klor and Dorothea Klor) was sponsor atthe christening of Ludwig Krickler, born October 1, 1764, son ofChristopher Krickler (Crigler). On June 5, 1779 Paul Leatherer, MichaelLeatherer, and Samuel Leather signed a petition paying for the petitionof the county (Culpeper). In 1782 Paul Leatherer was taxed for 161acres. At same time John Leatherer was taxed for 250 acres. PaulLeatherer made will November 5, 1780, probated November 21, 1785,Culpeper Co., Va. The will was witnessed by John Hume, John Yowell, andJames Crain. Testator mentions wife Margaret (last mention found ofMargaret), and children Michael Leatherer, Nicholas Leatherer, SamuelLeatherer, John Leatherer, Paul Leatherer, Joshua Leatherer, SusannahLeatherer, Mary Yowell, and Margaret Leatherer. Sons John and Joshua arenames as exectors. No other Leatherer (Lederer, Leathers) has been found comtemporarywith Paul Leatherer. It seems certain therefore that all the laterLeatherers of Culpeper Co., Va., were his descendants, thereforedescendants of Michael Clore, but the connections have not yet been made.
