Nathan BAILEY
Delaware, New Castle, Balckbird - 1900 US Census
Nathan and Annie might have been 2nd cousins, according to Thomas P Bailey, of Nyack, NY. He said he thinks they were related, and had the same last name. April 2008 Nathan Bailey Jr. was trying to locate the graves of Nathan and Annie, but was not able to find them. They were located at a Methodist Church Cemetery outside of Blackbird, but the church might be gone, and the graves were not located by him. Thomas P Bailey remembers them, but says they died early in his childhood, and gave approximate dates. Thomas P. Bailey has a picture of the two. Lived in Smyrna or Townsend, DE
Thomas P. Bailey gives the following reccolection of Annie: "I only remember a little, but I do remember her wearing a black dress with a high throat. She always had peppermint drops in her pocket. She would just put them in there without a wrapper, and we knew they were in there." Parents of Annie Bailey are found on the 1850 Census, and the connection is assumed based on the following evidence: 1) The age and place correspond with known information 2) No other Ann or Annie Bailey fits the age in Maryland or Delaware at the time 3) Annie is given as Ann E, either a transcription error of Annie, or her real name is Ann E and she was called Ann E. 4) Her father is William Bailey, his first son is William C Bailey, making it likely that her father is also William C Bailey. This corresponds with Annie's last son's name, William C Bailey.
Thomas P. Bailey refers to him as "Uncle Eddy"

Elizabeth Helen Bailey's birth certificate states William's middle name is Larence. We know his middle initial is C, so it is most likely Clarence, and a typo occurred on the certificate.
