Notes:
RESEARCH NOTE: Historical data in NOTES His father is not yet proved. Robert A. Mackall's "The Mackall Family of Calvert Co., MD" web site has Colonel John Mackall's 28 Apr 1739 Calvert Co. will in which he gives to "Absalom Kent and his heirs forever that piece and parcel of land on which he has begun to build a dwelling house and fifteen feet of land next adjoining to the East Side and both ends of said house. The name of the land is 'Foxes Walk'." This indicates that Absalom was John Mackall's son-in-law but that his daughter, not named in his will, had died. If so, Absalom's wife, at the time of his own will (below), was not John Mackall's daughter. Mackall researchers on RootsWeb World Connect have John with only one child, son James John Mackall who is named in his father's will along with his own daughter Susannah Mackall. I have tentatively included this unknown Mackall daughter as Absalom's 1st wife. She doesn't appear to be the mother of his children as they are not named as grandchildren in John Mackall's will.An Absalom Kent & wife sold 60 acres at "Rockhold" in Calvert Co. to a John Kent on 1 May 1714, but I'm not sure if he was the subject Absalom Sr., though he appears to be."Absolom" Kent's own 21 Apr 1745 will was probated in Calvert Co., MD, on 27 May 1745. The will names his wife, Elizabeth, son Absolom Kent, daughter Eleanor, wife of Thomas Byhen (Byrn), and the subject Absalom's brother John Kent. Next of kin named in an inventory & accounting record dated 23 Nov 174_, recorded on 21 Jan 45 (see below for more) are Elinor Byrn (daughter) and William Stenuit (brother-in-law). His son, "Absolum" Kent, was executor and made payments from his estate in Calvert Co. on 2 Aug 1746. See below for an abstract for payments also made from his estate dated 11 Jul 1747.Michael Marshall, of the Marshall Hall Foundation, has an abstract of the inventory of the Calvert Co., MD estate for the subject "Absolem" Kent dated 23 Nov 1744 and recorded 21 Jan 1745 (these years are not consistent with those given above for Absalom's 1745 will). Two named creditors to the estate were Ja. Somervell (Dr. James Somervell) and Thomas Byrn (husband of Absalom's daughter, Eleanor). Early Families of Southern Maryland also has the same Inventory & Accounts record (31.434) transcribed by Michael Marshall, except it has has 23 Nov 174_ for the inventory date, and it doesn't include the names of the two creditors. A son of the subject Absalom, Absalom Kent (Jr.), is a witness to the 13 Feb 1750 Calvert Co. will, of (Dr.) James Somervell. Marshall also has a transcription of payments dated 11 Jul 1747 from the estate of Abso. Kent to Thomas Burn (his son-in-law), Benjamin Johns, Dr. Somervell, Joseph Adams (merchant in London). Benjamin Mackall, Elinor Dorrumple, and Daniel Dulany, Esq. The payments were made by executors: Elisabeth Kent and Abso. Kent (his wife and son).
