George MARSHALL
She died of appendicitis. She had taken her test to become a teacher and was to begin in the fall.
Iremember my grandfather only as an old man. He was unsteady on his feet and would lean forward and try to keep his feet and legs going fast enough to stay under his body. As he would walk down the hill to the farm buildings from the house, he would occasionally not be able to keep the feet going and would fall on his face. He would get up and keep on going. He was a farmer and a carpenter, a skill he passed on to his decendents. He would sit in the evening by the radio and was faithful to the Grand Ole Opre on Saturday nites. I used to spend many evenings at the house of my grandparents. It was built by my grandfather and was the house in which I was born. There was always a special feeling of comfort while there. Upstairs lived Uncle Ralph, Aunt Thelma, and cousin LeJean. He is listed on the church records as Joseph Eli Frederick Marshall.
