John E. MILERMYLER
The Illinois State Genealogical Society typed Marriage Record has JOHNMILES marrying Lucretia Jones Smith on 25 Jun 1835, license #1329, Vol.A, pg 35 in Morgan County. I believe this is the same John Miler that isburied in Brush Creek Cemetery. It was John's second marriage--which itstates on Lucretia's tombstone in Long Point Cemetery. It was alsoLucretia's second marriage, her first being to Elijah Smith. Her maidenname was JONES. They are found in the 1850 census of Morgan County, Illinois withJohn, age 75, a farmer born in Virginia; Lucretia, age 46, born in NorthCarolina, with Larkin, age 13, Martha, age 11, and Nancy, age 5. Thereare also three Smith children: Mary, 15; William, 16: and James, 19 whoare children from Lucretia's first marriage. Larkin's death certificate says that his father's name was THOMAS.So this information must be checked out. In 174? in Virginia HistoricalRegistry of Revolutionary Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines 1776-1783,edited by John H. Gwathney, Richmond, Va., 1938 (13, p. 872) 586 Index toRevolutionary War Service Records, Volume III, L-R, page 1872, ThomasMiler served as Private in 10th virginia Regiment, also see 6th VARegiment. There is a Thomas Myler who married Peachey Lane, daughter ofJohn Lane, on 29 January 1805, according to the Quaker Marriage Bonds ofCampbell County, Virginia, but he would be too young to have been thisJohn's father. There are many Thomas Mylers born at this time In 1999, Jinny Collins, who is the source of much of this information, met with Winona Creek (another researcher). Jinny pointed out the graveof Lucretia Jones Smith, wife of Elijah Smith and John Myler, was in LongPoint Cemetery. She met me there in October, 1999 at which time we alsowent to Brush Creek Cemetery to see the grave of Sylvester Myler and JohnMyler.
