                   I have a copy of the will of George Valentine Mong, who died about 3:00o'clock on 11 Mar 1895. His residence place was Washington Twn.,Franklin, Pennsylvania, at the time of his death. His wife, Maria Mongand son William H. Mong, were the executors of the estate.

Named in the will were his wife, Maria, and children John Calvin, SusanCatharine, George V., Jacob S., William H., and Silas W. and his niece,Anna M. Roof.

                   This information came from a letter written to Don Moody by his fatherrecalling the life of John Calvin Mong and other relatives. "For a timeSilas had a farm near the Blue Ridge in Maryland and was some distancefrom the home of his brother, Henry. From Silas's property one could seethe amusement park up on the mountain called "Penn Mar", which was newlybuilt about the time of our visit as it was what everyone was talkingabout. (about 1923) Henry lived on a farm described as being severalmiles north of Hagerstown, Maryland just into Pennsylvania on the southside of a side road west off the road to Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.

The letter tells about visiting "Uncle" Harry's and "Aunt" Becky's dairyfarm, a large one with mechanized milking equipment and visiting UncleSilas on their peach farm. (The Uncle Harry mentioned was bygreat-grandfather, Henry Mong)

   "As I recall, neither resembled Grandpa (John Calvin) very much, butboth were Mongs.  Harry and Becky had two or three grown but youngishdaughters living with them, but I can't recall names. Silas and his wifeseemed old to me, Harry not as quite."

He also stated in his letter that John Calvin's father had married twice,and that one half of the family was Catholic and the other not. (Henryand his wife and children were Catholic).
