Notes:
Birthplace: "of Northport,Waldo,Maine; not known to have been born there for sure". Unfortunately Northport records were destroyed by fire (FHC Lib at SLC so states). The IGI 1994 edition has his birhplace as "of Portland Me." and his Birthdate is 14 Aug 1782. Died at sea, age 29. His wife Christina, had 3 children by Nathaniel before he died, Christina, Nathaniel P. and Frederick. This Frederick is not listed with a middle name but elsewhere it is so listed. Source of these data from the Memoirs of Lula Arnetta Christian (Thomas), the wife of Fredrick James Thomas. Lula's husband Fred is the great grandson of Nathaniel Thomas.

Notes:
Christina Pendleton Married Nathaniel Thomas in the year 1804 (mm/dd not known). Nathaniel died at sea in 1810. However she married again the 9 Jan 1811 to a John Dunham. There were 5 children of this union. See FGS for John Dunham. No further info on Nathaniel's lineage. All this information from Church Archive Record Family Group Sheet. Reference on this sheet was "Brian Pendleton and his Descendents" by Everett Hall Pendleton, p 115,192,194,347,350. Ord: Christina Pendleton was Bapt and Endowed 4 Apr 1961 and 16 May 1961, respctively, at the LA Temple. This work was done from the names submitted by Glenn H. Thomas. However the older dates which appear in this record for these ordinances, are given by Genealogical Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Archive Record Family Group Sheet, mentioned above. Ordin: Sealing to parents on 27 Mar 1990 done at the instance of Glenn H. Thomas (LA Temple). However info from above mentioned Archive Record grp sheet shows earlier date so it was placed as Slg to Pnts date.

Death:
13 Sep 1847
Notes:
Source: IGI-1988. Nathaniel P. Thomas md., Mary Philbrook dd/mm/1826 See batch # 8684408; Serial Sht 33. Have suspicions that IGI may not be right as other data from the STICKNEY line (see notes in Thomas folder) states that a Nathaniel Pendleton Thomas b. abt 1800 (our Nathan b 1809) and died 17 Oct 1847, (our Nathan died 13 Sep 1847). He married a Betsey Stickney 17 Oct 1837. Nathan Pendleton Thomas is from Ornville, Betsey Stickney from Brownsville, both towns in Piscataquis county, Me., significantly in the proper area. Need further research in this---present date 20 june 1993.

Birth:
20 Sep 1810
Mass.
Death:
30 Jul 1860
Pensacola, Escamb., Florida
Notes:
Occupation: Yankee Clipper Captian. On one trip Frederick became ill and his crew put into Pensacola (the nearest port) to obtain medical help. He died and his body was left somewhere in that area. The crew reported this story but his family sent investigators there to really determine what happened. They were hampered by the the Civil War, either it was still in progress or it was just over, our research does not make it clear. The final result of the money and time spent by the family of Frederick was that they found little definite information on the cause of Fredrick (or Frederick) James Thomas' death. Apparently his body was obtained from Pensacola and reburied in Maine as his date of buriel is four years after his death. Also we note at times this man's name was recorded as James Fredrick Thomas. Source: The 1860 Census of Maine states this man as having been born in Massachusetts instead of Northport, Me. Genealogical Society of America also confirms this fact. Birthdate from these two sources is: 20 Sep 1810. He probably lived in Northport much of his life, as Lula Arnetta Christian (Thomas) states that he was born in Northport, Me. Buriel: Frederick James Thomas (b 20 Sep 1810) was buried 1864 (4 years after his death) in Bangor, Maine, according to a letter written to Glenn H. Thomas by Lula Arnetta Christian Thomas, wife of Fredrick James Thomas (b.10 Mar 1864) who is the grandson of Fredrick James Thomas (b.20 Sep 1810). Letter of Lula was written in 21 Dec 1949. Note: Lula's letter also stated that "the Thomas's" (Frederick James Thomas bn. 1810) "had a home in Corinth, Maine, at 41 Cumberland St". Note: Frederick James Thomas (b. 20 Sep 1810) had two wives. The first was Rebecca and two children came from that union; Nathaniel F. and Frederick J. Jr. Marriage date is given from Lula Christian Thomas memoirs as "about 1831". The second wife was Mary Ann Holt (b. 1810) and 3 children, Martin Van Buren, Mary Hellen and John S.
