Notes:
Occupation: Yankee Clipper Captian. On one trip Frederick became ill and his crew put into Pensacola (the nearest port) to obtain medical help. He died and his body was left somewhere in that area. The crew reported this story but his family sent investigators there to really determine what happened. They were hampered by the the Civil War, either it was still in progress or it was just over, our research does not make it clear. The final result of the money and time spent by the family of Frederick was that they found little definite information on the cause of Fredrick (or Frederick) James Thomas' death. Apparently his body was obtained from Pensacola and reburied in Maine as his date of buriel is four years after his death.
Also we note at times this man's name was recorded as James Fredrick Thomas. Source: The 1860 Census of Maine states this man as having been born in Massachusetts instead of Northport, Me. Genealogical Society of America also confirms this fact. Birthdate from these two sources is: 20 Sep 1810. He probably lived in Northport much of his life, as Lula Arnetta Christian (Thomas) states that he was born in Northport, Me. Buriel: Frederick James Thomas (b 20 Sep 1810) was buried 1864 (4 years after his death) in Bangor, Maine, according to a letter written to Glenn H. Thomas by Lula Arnetta Christian Thomas, wife of Fredrick James Thomas (b.10 Mar 1864) who is the grandson of Fredrick James Thomas (b.20 Sep 1810). Letter of Lula was written in 21 Dec 1949.
Note: Lula's letter also stated that "the Thomas's" (Frederick James Thomas bn. 1810) "had a home in Corinth, Maine, at 41 Cumberland St".
Note: Frederick James Thomas (b. 20 Sep 1810) had two wives. The first was Rebecca and two children came from that union; Nathaniel F. and Frederick J. Jr. Marriage date is given from Lula Christian Thomas memoirs as "about 1831". The second wife was Mary Ann Holt (b. 1810) and 3 children, Martin Van Buren, Mary Hellen and John S.

Source: On an old flyleaf of a Bible commentary held by the Thomas family shows this lady as being the 1st wife of Frederick James Thomas, b. 20 Sept 1810.
No maiden name is given, no exact dates of birth or death. The writing is in ink done with a quill pen. Later pencil notations indicate this Rebecca is "Grandfather Frederick's" first wife.
The second wife is Mary Ann Holt (RIN 30).
