                   NAME:
    Tilghman aka Tilman

Family stories about Tilghman:  1) He was leaning against a rock, eating, a little away from other soldiers who were eating.  He saw a federal soldier working his way up and into position to shoot.  He said to this soldier, "Let's both just walk away from here."  Not taking his advice, the federal soldier went for his gun.  Tilghman Davis gets his gun out first, and kills the man.  2) Tilghman became sick in Pennsylvania.  It appears that he was not wounded, only sick.  A family there took him in and nursed him back to health.  He returned home from the war and married.
