Conrad and his sons, with the exception of George, were Loyalists in the Revolutionary War, and are found on the Muster rolls from the Kings Royal regiment of New York. They settled in Upper Canada (now Ontario) as United Empire Loyalists, and received the King's gift of land. The spelling of the surname was changed to Coons once in Canada.
