    BURI DATE Chowchilla, Madera, California

    From Duane Bennett, Fresno, CA.
The original probably in Lucille Watson's things in Chowchilla, CA.
Written by James Percy Bennett the day of his brother, William Bennett's,
funeral. It was written following the funeral at Harry & Lillian Bennett's
    house.
FRANK BENNETT - born in England - came to U.S. about 1830. Lived in Illinois
near (Somonauk)? No information on his wife. (1850 in LaSalle Co.??)
Two sons, John & ______ were killed in Civil War. George lived in Minnesota at
Cass Lake. Had ? in 1890 one son and one daughter 3 girls Ann Springer
________? Stover and Matty (maybe Matilda) Seaman. The first 2 lived in
eastern Nebraska. Aunt Matt lived near my father James near Pender, Nebraska.
Later they lived for a time near Harrisonville, MO. Then moved to southern
Kansas (Cedarvale) then later to Emmett, Idaho. My father entered the Union
army near the close of the Civil War at 18. He was a buglar in the 8th
Illinois Calvary Co. K. After the war he lived in Minnesota for a time then
    went to Plattsmouth, Nebraska.

Francis John Bennett like to play the coronet in a band. Some of the kids said
he wasn't always a nice person, mean to animals and hateful to their mother.
One time in Tracy, California, he grabbed Lucie's song books and threw them
into the wood fire in the kitchen. She reached in and grabbed them. They say
he had a bad temper. He cried his eyes out, though, when she died.

Francis John worked for the government building crates during WW II. Before
that, Holly sugar factory in Tracy, and managed a pig farm in Tracy - had moved
    from Tulare, California.

Lucie raised chickens in Tulare. Lucie was not real head strong - pretty
docile - a little afraid of Francis John. One time Mildred saw him slap her
mom and Lucie ran to Boyd and Amy's house.

Their home was run down - he didn't do a lot of repairs on the house.

Lucie was Presbyterian. Francis John never objected to having the minister
over or her church attendance. She would invite the minister for dinner every
Sunday whether they had food or not. She was very active.

He made the kids tow the mark. His boys could not swear in front of a woman.
Howard tried to sneak out of their 2-story house in Missouri and climbed out
the window and landed in front of his daddy. Howard was a lot of fun.

Lucy Loma Duncan cooked lots of fried children. She worked her fingers off
raising chickens. She was 4'10" or 11" and loved to eat. She attended church
and was a charter member of the Baptist church in Tracy. She used to eat all
the kids left-overs. She was always having to go and get Lucy at dances cause
she'd pass out. (Lucy had an enlarged heart).

Mildred skipped highschool alot. Mildred was 11 and Lillian were baptized in
    Tracy Beach (lake/creek).

They knew their great aunt Jo Anthony (Martha J.)

Ruth Anthony was a cousin to Lucy's kids and came to California with them but
