I understand that John Q. Adams was born "near" Paisley, Scotland. I also understand that he was either married, lived or died "near" Spencer, Owen Co., Indiana. In 1863 "they" moved to Nebraska. John Q. Adams was born near "Pasley" Scotland on January 13, 1825. He came to the United States about the year of 1842. One brother Finley came a few years later. He lost his life in the rebellion. Two of his sisters came and settled in St. Louis. One was Mary Adams Ritchie and the other Janet Adams Little. (SHOULD I FINISH THE HISTORY HERE?) When James left Illinois he went to Missouri about 1890. He then went to Pender, Thurston Co., Nebraska to Harrisonville, MO, then to Cedarvale, Chautagua Co., Kansas then to Emmett, Idaho. He raised Angus cattle. July First 1938 - A Brief History of the John Q. Adams Family, compiled by his son Jonathan. John Q. Adams was born near Pasley, Scotland on January 13, 1925. He came to the United States about the year of 1842. One brother Finley came a few years later. He lost his life in the rebellion. Two of his sisters came and settled in St. Louis. One was Mary Adams Ritchie and the other was Janet Adams Little. Father settled in Owen County, Indiana near the twon of Spencer and was married to Samanthia Jane Franklin in the year of 1848. She was born in the year of 1827 and reared near Spencer, Owen County, Indiana. Her parents' names were Jonathan and Almira Franklin. Her mother's name was Sumpter. Father and Mother settled near Spencer and lived there three years. Here Thaddeus and Celestine were born. In the year of 1851 they moved to Clay County, Illinois where Jonathan, Mary, Carrie, Walter and Elizabeth were born. In the year of 1863 they moved to Nebraska. They came on a steam boat up the Missouri riber landing at Plattsmouth April 25th. That was when Nebraska was a territory. They moved on to a farm four miles south west of Plattsmouth and lived there two years. Then moved to a farm near the town of Cedar Creek is now located. Alpheus was born there January 28, 1866. From there they moved to a farm four miles west of Plattsmouth where they broke the Prairie and built up the old home place where Edna and Emily were born. In the year 1884 he sold the old home farm and went to Dundy County, Nebraska where he went in to the ranch business. He sold the ranch the year of 1887 and bought the farm east of Lincoln. In 1889 he and his son Alpheus started the Bank of Eagle at the town of Eagle, Cass County, fifteen miles east of Lincoln. In the year of 1890 he sold the farm and moved to Eagle. He was President of the Bank of Eagle the remainder of his life. He died in June 1901. His wife lived in Eagle the remainder of her life and died in May 1910. They both are buried in the Eagle Cemetary at Eagle, Nebraska. A Brief History of John Q. and Santhania Jane Adams' Children Thaddeus was their first child. He was born at Spencer, Indiana May 1849. He came to Nebraska with his parents when he was fifteen years old and lived in Nebraska the rest of his life. He married Celia Lonsdale about the year of 1874. He died at Eagle, Nebraska in the year 1924 at the age of 76. He and his wife are buried at Eagle, Nebraska. They had no children. Celestine was their second child. She was born in December of 1850 and came to Nebraska with her parents when she was thirteen years old. She married James Bennett about the year of 1873 and lived in Nebraska until about the year of 1894 when they moved to Freeman, Missouri. They had five children. Jonathan their third child was born December 19, 1852. He came to Nebraska with his parents when he was ten years old. He spent more than 70 years of his life in Nebraska. He married Margaret Craig in the year of 1881. They lived on the farm eight miles west of Plattsmouth ten years then they moved to Eagle, Cass County in the year of 1892 and bought a half interest in the Bank of Eagle. In 1903 he bought the Lumber and Coal business at Eagle. He lived in Eagle until 1934 then moved to Phoenix, Arizona. His wife Margaret Admas died September 4, 1934 at the age of 78. She is buried in the Greenwood Cemetary at Phoenix. (Jonathan is the writer of this history. He was quite active andstrong at the age of 85. He was living with his son Jay in Phoenix, Arizona. Jonathan had five children. The fourth child is Mary Dovey. She was born March 3, 1855. She came to Nebraska when she was eight years old. She married Oliver Dovey the year of 1883. She has lived at Plattsmouth, Nebraska most of her life. She and her husband (are) still living at Plattsmouth. She is quite active at the age of 83. She has two children. Carrie was their fifth child. She was born March 3, 1857. She came to Nebraska with her parents when she was six years old and spent the rest of her life in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. She was never married and made her home with her sisten Mary Dovey. She was an invalid the last ten years of her life and died in March 1935. She was buried at Eagle, Nebraska. She was 78 years old at the time of her death. Walter was their sixth child. He was born March 27, 1859. He came to Nebraska with his parents when he was four years old. He lived in Nebraska the rest of his life. He married Katie Wetankamp in the year of 1888. He moved to Aurora, Nebraska and lived there until 1891 moving to Eagle at that time and went in the hardware business. He died in 1894 with typhoid fever. He had two small sons at the time of his death. They were Elmer and Arthur who live on farms near Eagle at the writing of this history. Elizabeth was their seventh child. She was born January 11, 1862, and was one year old when she came to Nebraska. She lived at home and taught school. She was married to Edward Carr in 1888 and lived at Eagle ever since she was married. Her husband Edward Carr died in 1934 and is buried at Eagle. She and her only son Marvin are running a large farm at Eagle. She had four childen. Alphus their eighth child was born January 28, 1866 at Cedar Creek, Nebraska. He lived with his parents on the farm until 1889 when he and his father started the Bank of Eagle. He married Ida Keefer in September 1890. He sold the Bank of Eagle in 1904 and moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where he and Ida are still living. He is a very active man at the age of 72. He has two children. Emily was the ninth child. She was born May 30, 1869 in Nebraska. She lived at the old home in Nebraska until the yar of 1899 when she went to Gardner, Massachusetts and there married George O. Sawin. She lived there until her husband's death when she moved to Winthrop, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. She is living there at the writing of this history at the age of 69. She has one son. Edna was their tenth child. She was born March 24, 1871. She lived in Nebraska until the year of 1903 when she went to Cleveland to teach in a commercial school. There she met Wellington Morrow. He was a teacher in the school. They were married in June 1911. Her husband died in March 1938. She is still living at Cleveland at the time of this writing. She is still very active and is able to do her housekeeping at this time. She h
