Lindley Cemetery, Sullivan County, MO
Located in Sullivan County, just across border of Grundy County, Marion Township, on Apple Road about 2000 feet north of Vale Road. S15-T61N-R22W; 40.090N 093.363W. It is near Old Lindley, a pioneer settlement, which flourished in the early years of the county, then almost disappeared when railroads and highways missed it. The cemetery with two lovely pine trees in center of it, is high and sloping, well kept, well fenced (1965). Stones have been damaged and abused by vandals who broke and scattered them. There are several stones lying on the ground and broken. There is a plot to this cemetery, held in 1965 by Jobe Williams, south of Humphrey. The cemetery was recorded in 1965 by Mrs. B. F. Hoover, Mrs. O. L. Livingston, and by Mrs. Delbert Hesler & Cindy.

NOTES: July 2008 - Looking in Ancestry.com I came across the marriage record of Dr William W Mantlo and Susan Sarah Stringer. It reads: To the Clerk of the County Court for Sullivan County State of Missouri This is to certify that on the third day of January Eighteen Hundred and Fifty Eight at the residence of James M Stringer in said County & State I Solomnize the rites of Matrimony between said William W Mantlo and Susan Sarah Stringer and join them together as husband and wife.
