William Welles HOLLISTER, COLONEL
In 1898 he was in his first year of law school at Harvard. He responded to Colonel Roosevelt's call for experienced horsemen to serve in the Spanish American War. He served with Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders in the assault on San Juan Hill. On July 1, 1898, he received minor wounds from shrapnel. However, before he could fully recover, he contracted typhoid and died shortly thereafter.
He married Hannah Annie James 1 Jun 1862 at San Benito Valle, California . Hannah Annie James was born at Abt 1841 .
