She was petite and "sweet" and was always kind to the grandchildren. She played with them and fed them first when the common policy was for men to eat first, then women, then children.

These completed records are from Carole L. Highfill, 572 East 900 North, Ogden Utah 782-373l, zip 84404. While mother had the names, it was Carole who made them accurate with complete dates and places. She telephoned once and surprised (shocked) me, because I had never thought about anyone else in mother's family joining the church. She had been so alone when she joined. Carole was sure the Highfill was the same. I sent her what I had, but I doubt it helped her a bit. At least the names and places agreed. It's interesting to me that mother's favorite grandmother's line is the one who is doing this work.
This is the aunt I became acquainted with after we moved to California. We visited her a few times. She lived in a small house in Inglewood, near the LA airport - so near that when the planes flew over to land, we had to stop talking. She was very pleasant, looked a little like Gramma Wilson, in that she was about the same height and build (short and round). Her hair wasn't as white. She laughed and talked with us. On one of our visits we found that she was going to have an operation. It seems she had some vaginal bleeding. We teased her about having her second "period." Of course, it was a serious symptom of a cancer of some sort that was terminal. However, as I remember, during her recovery from the surgery, she fell and broke her leg. I remember feeling very badly because they insisted she get up and walk on it, which was very painful for her, when she was so terminally ill. I wanted her to be left alone. Who knows what was right. This made me want to sign a paper to not have them do extraordinary things to keep me alive. I know she had a hard time leaving this life.
