Parts of a letter dated November 4, 1974 by Lorna Sloan Eldredge -
"Last spring a dear relative by the name of Ellen McDonald Ball died. She was the daugher of another dear relative we called 'Aunt' Maggie. This Aunt Maggie McDonald was either a niece or a cousin of Grandfather Sloan's. We met them when we first came to Utah many years ago. They were from Park City. I don't even remember how we met them nor through whom. They belonged to the Presbyterian Church.
While Aunt Maggie was living we, myself, Phyllis, and my Mother visited their home several times. I was invited to Ellen's 'Announcement Tea' just before she was married. Ellen was an only child. Ellen married rather late in life - at the time of World War II. She had been married just a short time when her husband went off to war and he didn't come back.
Ellen was a nurse. When my children were going to elementary school Ellen was their School Nurse. Ellen and I kept in touch over the years, didn't visit much, but always remembered each other at Christmastime. She passed away last spring. I would like to do the temple work for Ellen and her parents.
Ellen and her parents were very close, very devoted to each other. Ellen put off getting married for years in order to help her mother care for her father. Aunt Maggie used to say to me 'I would like Ellen to get married but she feels we need her and she won't leave us.' After the father died Ellen did marry - but for such a short time. When she was notified that her husband was 'lost at sea' she went back with her mother and took care of her until she passed away......I would so love to do the Temple work for Ellen and her parents."
