                   SOURCE:Genealogy of the Van Texel/Van Tassell family in America, 1625-1900.  Descendants of Jan Cornelissen Van Texel, born 1625 on Isle of Texel off the north coast of Holland, compiled by Daniel Van Tassel: Cornelis Jansen Van Texel immigrated to New Netherlands, probably from North Holland, Netherland, before 1624.  He settled on Long Island, where he married an Indian girl 'Catoneras," the daughter of a chief of a tribe.  Their son, Jan Cornelissen Van Texel (ca. 1625-1704) lived at Modwont (Flatbush), Long Island, and married Annetje Alberts there.  They had eight children, ca. 1640-1683.  The family moved to Westchester County, NY ca. 1670.  Descendants listed lived in New York and elsewhere.
