                       Part of the early ancestral family of McSwain who migrated from England to
    North Carolina about 1750 had the surname changed to JONES by John Jones,
    according to family tradition.  He raised his family near Hatfield Mountain just
    across the county line in Fentress County, Tennessee.  They left Fentress
    County shortly after the close of the Civil War, moved to Johnson County,
    Illinois, and settled on the Miango River.  A year later they moved to Wright
    County, Missouri, settling near Grovespring.  John is buried in Shaddy
    Cemetery.
