Ancestor of Virginia Bristow's. 2. Child: Nicholas on fathers land called Capham. 3. Child: John emigrated to Bermuda in 1658 made marshall & pilot of the islands. 4. Child: Richard settled in Guilford, CT. in 1649. 5. Child: Robert in apprenticeship when father wrote his will. 6. Child: Henry will be put into apprentice in London, settled in New Haven about 1649. 7. Child: Alice money given when she becomes age 21. WILL: Date 15 May 1646, probate: date 24 Nov 1646. Wife Jane and 2nd son John - are executors - they must see that his debts are paid and he properly recieve a funeral and decent burial. Requests to his well-beloved friends - Thomas Stout and Thomas Blanchard (of Frale) to be overseers - Left 6 shillings 8 pence to each for their services. Witnesses - John Harding and Johannis Bensted. OCCUPATION: A Yeoman - Farmer.

Possibly Virginia Bristows may have come from Bermuda. Living there from 1637 to 1690. Died after his son John Jr. 1680-1690 dissappears rather abruptly (the sea captain "lost at sea") 2. Katherine, served as a juror in a witch trial. 3. May have been the Provost Marshall & Pilot of the island- was his son John Jr. or grandson? 4. There is a family tradition to the effect that a sea captain named John Bristow was the 1st settler on the Rappa Hannock River in Middlesex Co, VA. who was lost at sea on a trip back to England. 5. John above? or John Bristow? of Binstead, Hampshire England (his son Robert came- father too?

Col. Robert of the Militia and in 1676 was elexted to the House Of Burgesses presumably in each case from the County of Gloucester. Returned to England in 1680 and became a merchant in London- amassed great wealth. (Note: imprisoned By Bacon, until Bacon died Returned to England about 1677). He left no descendants in the colony's A neighbor of John Bristow - of Virginia after Robert returned to London - he became a Director of the Bank of England, also elected to Parliament for Winchelsea. Codicil 3 April 1707. Alive when he wrote this (Parish of Gabriel). He later returned to England leaving no descendants in the colony in 1660.
NOTES: Changed his name to Bristol. Will be put into apprentice in London - settled in New Haven about 1649.
He married Jane Newlin 10 Dec 1616 at East Tisted, Hampshire, England . Jane Newlin was christened at Priors Dean, Hampshire, England 1 Jan 1694 .

John Bristow died 24 Nov 1646 at Churchyard Paris, Binstead, England .
