Stephen Wilcox representative, Senator and Nominated for Governor - Merchant and Director of Phenix Bank. 2. From the above book Representative men and Old Families of RI - it states Stephen Wilcox was a cashier of Phenix National Bank and after giving up that position, formed a partneership with John R. Champlin and carried on a General Merchandise Business. He was a man of few words and lacked the genial hearty manner that characterized his son. He was involved in Anti- Slavery Movement. the only time he could talk readily was when he was denouncing slavery. 3. Sophia Vose - intelligent and motherly woman. Both of them were christians by Profession and Practice.
