    1. James Bartlett Sr. Will made 14 april 1821 - Probated February 1823 - administrator of his will James Bartlett Jr. John Massey and Stephen Hubbard.
    2. It took 10 years for James Bartlett Sr. estate to be settled, son Edmund evidently recrived his part of inheritance by his father, when he left Virginia for Kentucky, before or after his marriage in 1800.
    3. The family had a Negro man named Sam, who stayed with the Bartlett children.
